Closing an empty token account does not destroy a token balance. We recheck ownership and current state before preparing the exact transaction for wallet approval.

At least 0.00001 SOL is required for the first network fee. Keeping 0.001 SOL provides extra retry room, but it is not a service charge or deposit.
